Jong Wan Park's Obituary
Jong Wan Park, 84, of San Jose, California, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022 at Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born to parents Won Kyu Park and Jong Yup Jeon, on January 1, 1938, in Taepyeong-ro, Seoul, Korea and emigrated to the United States in 1986 with his whole family. He attended Sungkyunkwan University, a private university in Seoul. He held a degree in English Literature. He was a Construction Director at Samil Enterprise Co., Ltd., a construction company located in Gangnam-Gu.
On March 6, 1976, he married his life partner of 46 years, Hae Ja Yoon, who survives him. He was the first born of seven children. He was preceded in death by his siblings Jong Sook Park, Mi Ja Park, Jong Kook Park, Jong Soon Park, and Jong Ok Park. His youngest brother Jong Min Park was predeceased him. Jong Wan Park is survived by his two children, Hyun Soon Park (aka Henry Park) and Ji Soon Park (aka Jenny Park) whom he loved very much.
Jong Wan Park was very passionate, hardworking, and artistic. He enjoyed painting Korea’s vibrant cultural legacy and Biblical subjects with oil paint on canvas. He was good at calligraphy as well. He also enjoyed clipping news articles of his interest and creating scrapbooks. He had many talents and was very gifted. Aside from his artistic talents, he was also a great public speaker, had great organizational skills, and was very proficient in English. With his language skills, he tutored English and translated foreign movie dialogues. During his leisure time, he enjoyed reading the Bible, Korean historical fictions, and books about faith and testimonials. His other hobbies were collecting classic vinyl records and classic movies. And in his early years, he loved swimming. He had a strong upper body and lean physique, which allowed him to swim long distance in the water. He was certainly an avid swimmer, who often took his family to water parks, beaches, and rivers. He had fulfilled most of his dreams and lived a long, meaningful life.
The memorial services will be held at 10:30AM, Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at the Pacific Chapel of Skylawn Memorial Park, Highway 92 at Skyline Boulevard, San Mateo, CA 94402. Interment will immediately follow. Relatives and friends are welcomed to a remembrance reception after the service at Korean Palace Restaurant at 2297 Stevens Creek Blvd. San Jose, CA 95128.
