John Uliana, 61 years young, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2023 after a courageous two-month battle with lung cancer at home surround by his loving family.
John was born to Italian immigrant parents, who instilled in him a deep appreciation for family and life’s simple pleasures.
Growing up in Burlingame, John’s formative years were enriched by the presence of his older siter, Cathy, and brother Dominic. Attending Saint Catherine's Catholic School until 8th grade John’s education was grounded in values that would shape his character throughout his life.
A pivotal moment came when John’s parents took the family on a journey to Italy, allowing them to connect with their roots and extended family. This unforgettable journey left and indelible mark on John etching a cherished memory that ignited a lifelong passion for travel, inspiring countless adventures in his adult years.
John, who dedicated over 40 years to his work as a Cement Mason, is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Cindy, and their four boys: Nicolas (Detria), Geno (Andrea), Christopher (Shannon) and Steven. We are saddened that he will not meet his expected grandchild due in January.
John’s true joy lay in life’s simpler pleasures, those that resonated with the core of his being. Working alongside his father in their vineyard in Valley Springs, cultivating the earth and nurturing the vines, was where he found solace and connection. The art of making wine, a tradition he held close, became an annual event shared among loved ones. He enjoyed camping with family and friends allowing him to connect with nature, while fishing provided moments of bonding with his boys.
John’s appreciation for the beauty in simplicity touched the lives of all who knew him, leaving an enduring legacy of authenticity and genuine joy. May John ‘s spirit find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire us all to find happiness in life’s simplest and most meaningful moments.
As we gather to celebrate his life at 11 am on August 27th at Skylawn Funeral Home, Memorial Park, let us remember the man who taught us the beauty of simplicity and the importance of savoring life’s small pleasures.
