John Lofton Speck's Obituary
After a long battle with lung cancer, 'Papa John' Speck passed away at home surrounded by his family.He was a loving husband to Marjorie Speck, and father to Mary Ann Trujillo (Ruben Rocha), James Speck, and Robert Speck (Anne Speck). He was a beloved grandfather to Janelle Trujillo (Alex Shott), Stacy, Johnny, and Trever Speck. He was also great-grandfather to Alanna Trujillo and had many nieces and nephews. John was born in Franklin, TN. He joined the Air Force at age 16, where he met and married his wife of 59 years. Four years after they married, John and Marjorie moved to Pacific, to make Linda Mar their permanent home. He was in the sheet metal trade (local 104) for 40 years at which time he retired to care for his grandchildren. He volunteered at Cabrillo School for 9 years and was well known and loved at the school. He was known to the kids as 'Papa John'. He enjoyed his grandkids, fishing, photography, and pouring concrete. Honoring his request, there will be no services held. The family would like to thank the people at Odyssey Hospice for the great care they provided for him. In lieu of flowers being sent to the home in memory of John, the family requests that donations be sent to Odyssey Hospice Foundation: Suite 212, 1500 Hamilton Ave. Campbell, CA 95008 (408)626-4868.
