John Francis Lawler's Obituary
John (Jack) LawlerJack passed away on 11/12/2015 surrounded by his family in Redwood City where he resided for over 40 years.He was born in Wayne Penn on 9/26/1929 to John and Mary Lawler. He grew up there with sisters Marge and Betty Lawler.He moved to Florida where he worked on TV towers for RCA for many years before he brought his family California to work for Royco Instruments in the early 1960’s as an Electrical Engineer.He helped to develop and implement the first air partical counter and worked with NASA on the first space programs, Gemini and Apollo missions, providing support for the clean rooms.He then moved on to Tencor where he was involved with the first blood cell counter instrument which made a way for new and better detection of diseases.He went to Red China at the invitation of the Chinese government to teach the technical use of those machines.He continued to travel to many countries teaching the use of the instruments until he retired in 1986 at the age of 57.He coached little league and of the neighborhood kids would often come by and ask if “ Jack could come out and play”. He was above all, a wonderful family man.He and his beloved wife Jean began to travel the world sharing many wonderful memories. He also became involved with the Veterans Memorial Senior Center playing piano for the choir and at luncheons, calling bingo and participating in plays at the center.He also loved to garden, making his yard a showplace of beauty.He is survived by his wife Jean, children Mike, Judi, Donald and Suzette, grandchildren Christopher, Keif, Katie, Tanya, Jennifer, Stephen, Rachel and Angie and 7 great grandchildren.His greatest saying: “I’m the luckiest man in the world!” “Luck of the Irish to ya”Memorial service to be held at VMSC, Redwood City on 12/4/2015 from 2 pm to 5 pm.All donations should go to VMSC.
