Long time resident of Palo Alto, John A. Ketchens, 83, died March 18, 2014 at the Palo Alto Veterans’ Hospital.John “Buster” Ketchens was born November 4, 1930, in Madison County, Mississippi, to Dorothy and Alson Ketchens.A retired employee of San Mateo County, Mr. Ketchens enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering with automotive projects, and gardening.While serving in the United States Army, Mr. Ketchens married Annie Howard. They were married for 43 years, and from that union had three sons.John Ketchens is survived by his ex-wife, Annie Ketchens of Palo Alto, CA; his sons: Vence A. Ketchens (Debby) of Albuquerque, NM, John J. Ketchens (Jeff) of Santa Fe, NM, and DeNavar “Deac” Ketchens of Palo Alto, CA; his mother, Dorothy Ketchens of Los Angeles, CA; his sisters: Emma Scott of Los Angeles, CA, and Magaret Reed of Chunchula, AL; six grandchildren; Heather Ketchens, Sierra Ketchens, Quinn Ketchens, Kai Ketchens, Cole Ketchens, and Marcus Ketchens; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.Services will be held at Skylawn Funeral Home on Monday, March 24th Visitation 10:00am – 11:00am Funeral Service Beginning at 11:00 am Graveside Service to follow immediately Luncheon and Fellowship to follow
