John Harken's Obituary
John Harken, 65, of San Mateo passed away peacefully on October 4th. After being in the hospital since January, he succumbed to his health issues with family by his side. John was born on February 18th, 1960 in Iowa to Irv and JoAnne Harken.
John loved living in San Mateo and especially enjoyed fishing the bay with his friends and children. He worked construction most of his life and was a “jack” of all trades. John loved to socialize and talked to everyone. He was always willing to grab a drink and tell stories over a rum and coke.
John is survived by his sisters, Janice Harken-Hamblin, Debbie Moore, Mary Valdez and his children Brooke McCaskill (Jerome), Matt Harken (Jessica) and granddaughter, Ashley Harken.
A memorial service will be held at Skylawn Cemetery on Friday, November 7th at noon. John will have his final resting place there and his ashes will be scattered over the ocean
