John B. Chiu's Obituary
John Chiu, 90, of Fremont, California, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025. Born on January 14, 1935, in Changshu, Jiangsu Province, China, to David and Mary Chiu, he was the eldest of five children.
A proud graduate of National Taiwan University, John earned his degree in economics before immigrating to the United States, where he built a career as an electrical drafter and technical engineer. His professional life reflected a signature precision and dedication—qualities that defined his personal life as well.
John found joy in life's simple routines: spending time with his beloved wife, following the stock market, and practicing the art of saving. As a young man, he loved riding his bicycle, and he had a passion for basketball, planes, cars, and Vespas. While known for his thriftiness, he balanced practicality with a quiet generosity, extending kindness and support to family, friends, and many others.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa. He is survived by his daughters, Margaret (Christopher) Martin and Susan (James) Linton; grandchildren Sloane and Holden; three great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Willa, and Roland; his brother George; and his sister Anna. His legacy of care, discipline, and kindness will be cherished by all who knew him.
