Joan Cooley Needham's Obituary
JOAN COOLEY NEEDHAM
October 11, 1929 - January 7, 2023
Joan Needham, 93, left this mortal life in the early morning hours, peacefully, and with several family members by her side.
Joan was born in Ogden, Utah to James McKie and Edith Cooley. She was raised her entire life by Edith and Robert Whetzell. She grew up in Wyoming and came to CA in 1951where she resided the rest of her life. She lived in several cities in CA, San Francisco, Pacifica, Manteca, and Fairfield.
Joan married Robert Needham in 1948. They later divorced. Joan raised 6 amazing children, Michael Needham (Joyce), Barbara Needham, David Needham, Linda Campbell (Jay), Paul Needham (June), Allie Judy (Paul). She was preceded in death by her son David. She was the proud grandmother to 16 Grandchildren, 30 Great grandchildren, and 4 Great Great grandchildren, with two more on the way.
Joan worked for several years for the phone company, as an operator, but her real passion was sewing, quilting, and crocheting for her family. Each family member can boast of owning pieces made by their dear mother and grandmother. She even crocheted each of her great great grandchildren a blanket as well as a quilt, just finishing the last one less than a month ago.
Joan was a quiet unassuming mother, loved by her family, and will be missed and cherished by them forever.
