Joan M. Quesinberry's Obituary
Joan Medina Quesinberry passed away in San Mateo, California on September 20, 2014. Joan was born on July 29, 1931 in San Francisco to William Anthony and Mary Parsons Medina. She was raised in Hillsborough, attended Notre Dame in Belmont from kindergarten through high school, and studied at Lone Mountain College for Women in San Francisco. She married Burleigh Quesinberry, a dentist with the USAF and officer, on April 24, 1954 at St. Catherine’s in Burlingame. While raising four children, they moved with the Air Force for 22 years to New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, California, Florida and bases near Cambridge and Ruislip, England. In 1976, they settled in Riverside, California, where Joan was deeply involved in the community for over 33 years with Art Alliance, Assistance League, National Charity League and Riverside Ballet Theater organizations. She was a dynamic leader who enthusiastically chaired a variety of fundraising activities including two decorator showcase homes, an antique show and numerous speaker programs and fashion shows. Joan also served as a docent at the Riverside Mission Inn and enjoyed her puppeteer efforts with Kids on the Block, an educational program about special needs kids.Joan was a beautiful, sophisticated lady with a vivacious spirit who enriched the lives of others. Her catholic faith was a deep source of strength. She also loved art, antiques, architecture and anything beautiful “with the right line and design.” She adored traveling and was always up for an adventure.Joan is survived by her husband of 60 years, Burleigh sons Steven (Jem) Quesinberry and Scott (Diane) Quesinberry and daughters Ann Quesinberry (Bob) Stenz and Jacqueline Quesinberry (Matthew) Doerzbacher; and grandchildren, Rachel and Gregory Quesinberry, Kate Doerzbacher and step-grand daughter Danielle Hayes.She lived life to the fullest, nothing would stop her. We carry her in our hearts and we miss her. She is buried at Skylawn Memorial Park, San Mateo. Funds may be denoted in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, Northern CA and Northern NV Chapter.Services will be held in her honor at Skylawn Funeral Home and Memorial Home in San Mateo, California on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 11:00am
