Mr Jin-Rong Ouyang's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Jin-Rong Ouyang Jin-Rong Ouyang was born on August 18, 1927. He was the sixth child in his family among 9 siblings. He came from a prominent family in Dailing Village. During his youth, China was torn apart by civil unrest, Japanese Occupations, and WWII. As a result, he grew up in poverty. He only recevied education up to elementary school (Dailing Village Elementary School). During the Japanese Occupation (the “8 year war”), his family was torn apart where part of his family escaped to Macau and the rest stayed in China. After the Japanese Surrender, he traveled between Macau and China for the family and the family business. He learned the tailoring profession by running the family business. During the Chinese Cultural Revolution, he was detained for owning a business but was later released. His business was taken away by the Chinese Government. In 1960, he met his wife, Hui-Lian Li and they were married in 1962. They have 3 children, Daniel, Katie, and Ledia. He was survived by his wife, Hui-Lian, 3 children and their spouses: Daniel and Grace, Katie and Michael, Ledia abd Edward, and 6 grandchildren: Jessica, Jonathan, Brian, Allison, Taylor abd Sophia. From the mid 1950’s to 1979, he worked as a taylor in China. Together with his wife, they took care of their 3 children, but they struggled financialy since his business was taken away by the Government. In 1979, the family moved to Hong Kong in hopes of a better future for their family. In 1983, the family immigrated to the US and settled in San Francisco. In San Francisco, Jin-Rong and Hui-Lian found employment at the Yet Wab Restaurant. They worked very hard at the restaurant to support their 3 children. Their main focus was to pave the way for their children to acheive better lives by attending higher education. He was very proud to see all 3 of their children graduate college. He retired in 1990. In his retirement he cared for the house, enjoyed gardening and did most of the cooking. He made sure that everyone always had a wonderful meal to enjoy at the end of their workday. When the grandchildren arrived, he took an active role in caring for them. He was also an advocate for healthy living. He excersized every day, rain or shine for the last 40 plus years. Living in the Sunset for the past 20 plus years. He woke up at 5:30am and went on his excersize routine of walking around the neighborhood. He loved walking in Golden Gate Park and Ocean Beach. He also loved to travel and try new experiences. Together we traveled to many different destinations in the world as an entire family (Yes! all 14 of us). He lived a wonderful fulfilling life of 88 years. On Monday. April 20th, 2015 as a result of a tragis accident while on his morning walk in the Sunset neighborhood, he passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife, children, their respective spouses, and grandchildren.
