Jerene Luna's Obituary
Jerene Anne Luna, 71, died peacefully on Saturday July 19th, with her daughter, son-in-law, friend and pastor by her side.Jerene was born September 24, 1942 in Hartford, Connecticut to William and Mary Minney.In 1963, Jerene graduated from nursing school in New London, Connecticut. Her 32-year nursing career began at Mt. Sinai hospital in New York City. She moved to San Francisco in 1966 where she worked at French Hospital and retired from Seton Medical Center in 1995.Jerene was a resident of Pacifica since 1970. She was an active and beloved member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church for over 30 years.Jerene was well known for her passion of living, her sense of humor and could always be relied upon to make people laugh. She enjoyed the ocean, reading, music, singing, playing bingo, exercising, socializing and traveling.Jerene is survived by her husband of 43 years Phillip Luna, daughter Elizabeth and son-in-law Derek Dubuque, her sister Mary Alexander, nieces, nephews, countless friends and her beloved cat Sophie.She was preceded in death by her brothers William and John Minney.Jerene’s celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 26th at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo. The viewing is from 10-11am; service at 11am with burial at 12noon and reception to follow.
