Lawrence Mcnesby
It's hard to start this as I have so many wonderful memories of my cousin Jeff. That wonderful big bright smile when he would greet you, the laugh that could fill the room with joy, his stories like the time John Denver gave Jeff a ride (from where to where I don't know but it happened).
When I was eight years old, my mother brought me to the San Mateo County fair. My mother tried so vey hard to get me to go on the "big kid" rides such as the roller coasters, the rides that spin and toss you around but I refused as I was just too scared. My Mother a bit frustrated with my lack of adventure decided that we would go home, but as we got close to the gate a voice called out my mothers name we both turned and there was Jeff with a few of his friends. Jeff greeted mom and I, My mom and my older cousin Jeff, talked and than Jeff looked down at me (or maybe I looked up at him) and said "Lawrence I am a bit scared of these rides too, but I want to try them." "Lawrence could we go on them together and we could be brave for each other". I don't remember exactly what I said, but I do remember Jeff holding my hand as we ran from ride to ride enjoying each of them, it seemed so easy to be brave as long as I had my big cousin holding my hand.
Jeff, thank you for your love, your kindness and for being my big brave cousin.
Love Lawrence
