Jean Ann Drago's Obituary
May 11, 1931 - November 8, 2024
Affectionately known as Jean, Jeanne, mom, grandma, great grandma and auntie passed away peacefully at her home in Burlingame at the age of 93 following a courageous battle with heart, diabetes and kidney disease. Jean was a very loving, kind, generous, beautiful, intelligent, artistic, gregarious, optimistic, adventurous, classy, fun-loving, humble, and humorous individual. She loved her family “more” than anything in the world. She expressed and showed it always. She is missed so very much by family and friends and her influence will last forever. Jean’s parents, Enrique and Carmen Fernandez immigrated from Mexico and raised nine children born in San Francisco with a brief move to Morgan Hill during World War II and The Great Depression. Jean attended Balboa High School. She is the sister of Bobby and the late Ida, Carmen, May, Eddie, Fred, Hank, and Ray.
She worked in Customer Service at Pacific Bell China Basin, S.F. 25 years. They honored her with a luncheon at Julius Castle when she retired. Jean made many business acquaintances and friends along the journey. She loved going to Marin Town and Country Club with family and friends. She enjoyed basking in the sun, swimming, tennis, cross country, skiing, and bowling. Jean was an excellent cook and loved to entertain with champagne and cocktails, setting a beautiful table with candles and flowers, enjoying great swing, Frank Sinatra, and Jazz music. When things really got going, she borrowed her daughter, Karen’s rock ‘n roll records of the 60’s. She enjoyed her passion of creating a beautiful and stylish home. This love of beauty extended to her dress and appearance even if just making a run to the store or going out to shop.
Another passion and delight was to enjoy a delicious meal at her favorite restaurants.
Jean enjoyed vacations in Lake County, Las Vegas, Mexico and Lake Tahoe, also centered on the things she loved most ... family, friends, the outdoors, food, drink and having fun. Adored and devoted wife of the late Al de Alba (Ann) in 1950 and to the late Jack Drago in 1993, cherished mother of Karen (Luisiano), the late Daniel, the late Susan (Robert) Bob, Janet, Lynn (Todd), Kim, John (Beth), Dean and Mark; much loved grandmother and great grandmother of Paolo, (Lori), Kiara, Samantha, the late Nicholas, Mackenzie, Lindsay, (Jonathan), Siena, Michael, (Adrianna )Emma, Abigail, Gabriel, Katy, Sophia, Sarah, (Will), Wyatt, Atlas, Briar, Kayleen, (Mike ) Lucas, Holden, Ajaye, (Lidiane), Hazel, Drew, William, Olivia, Stephanie, Dylan; our other patriarch of the family Ann de Alba (Al) also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
