Janice Fernandez's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Janice (“Jan”) Carol Fernandez (nee Summers) announces her passing on June 18, 2019, at the age of 74. Jan will forever be loved by her husband and best friend of 44 years, Manuel (“Manny”) Z. Fernandez of Pacifica, CA. She will also be fondly remembered by Manny’s children, Dana Greetham of Shelton, WA, Manuel Fernandez of Concord, CA, Robert Fernandez of Columbus, GA; her children, Joseph Kimbro of San Francisco, CA, and Barbara Remley of Pacifica, CA; her siblings, Stephen Summers of Hoquiam, WA, and Greg Summers of Ellington, MO; as well as a beloved extended family of cousins, nieces/nephews, and grandchildren. Jan is preceded in death by her parents, Velma and Jess Summers; her siblings, Brenda Summers, Barbara Summers, John Michael Summers, and Richard “Richie” Summers; and her son, Kenneth Kimbro. All of these she loved and deeply touched.Jan was bon on November 3, 1944, in St. Louis, MO, to Velma and Jess Summers. Their Missouri-native family relocated to California in Jan’s teenage years. Jan worked for over thirty years as an order planning supervisor with Hiram Walker Distillery. She and Manny have happily lived and raised their blended family in Pacifica, CA, since 1976. They traveled the USA by RV, took cruises through Europe and the Carribean and rode the riverboat down the Mississippi. Jan was a beloved member of New Life Christian Fellowship of Pacifica, CA. Jan was a dedicated wife, mother, and sister. She especially loved her role as Nana. Jan was known for being generous in all aspects of her life; her time, her money, her cooking, her candid opinions, her sassiness, and her fierce love were never in short supply.A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. August 17, 2019, at New Life Christian Fellowship, 1125 Terra Nova Blvd, Pacifica, with a reception to follow. Pastor Jonathan Markham will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jan’s life.
