Jane Schueler's Obituary
Katherine Jane Schueler passed away peacefully in her home in San Mateo, CA on Friday, May 13, 2016, at the age of 91. Born October 11, 1924, in Apple River, IL to Herbert and Lenore Price, she graduated from Illinois State Normal University and moved to Berkeley in 1949 with her first husband, Marvin T. Tepperman, who passed away in 1989. In 1951, they moved to San Mateo and raised their family there and in Hillsborough. In 1994, she married her devoted husband, M. William (Bill) Schueler.Her commitment to bettering her community and her deep love of reading, travel and the arts afforded her a life rich with service to others, culture, learning and adventure. She led several local organizations: Women’s Recovery Association, HeadStart Auxiliary and the Upper Peninsula League of the SF Symphony, to name a few. She was an accomplished painter and enjoyed attending opera, ballet, symphony and theater as long as her health allowed. She traveled the world over with an unusual fervor, often including hiking and bicycling with dear friends. She was also preceded in death by her sister and brother-law Mary Ellen and Newell Kessinger and brother and sister-in-law Herb and Jean Price.She is survived by her husband, M. William (Bill) Schueler, son Robert (Nancy) Tepperman, daughter Katherine (Roy) Bukstein, step-son Scott Schueler, grandchildren Josh Bukstein (Laura Tepper), Katie Bukstein, David Tepperman, John (Sarah) Tepperman and step-grandsons, Shane Schueler and Travis Schueler.Donations in her memory can be made to HeadStart Auxiliary, whose mission is to supplement pre-school tuition for San Mateo County families in need.
