Jane McGonnell's Obituary
Jane passed away peacefully on November 2, 2022, in Granite Bay, CA. She was born April 25, 1941 in Glasgow “the Gorbals”, Scotland. Jane moved to California with her husband Jim in 1963 and, although the early years were challenging, once they were established, she would tear up when she saw the Golden Gate Bridge, for she knew she was truly HOME.
Jane was a proud Scottish woman at heart who always enjoyed a “cuppa tea” with family and friends. She was welcoming and hospitable to all and generously shared her treasured traditions and “back home” values. Jane was a talented seamstress, she loved to dance, shop, “lunch”, binge watch TV shows, and travel the world especially in later years with her best friend Sandra.
Jane cherished the life she and Jim built together raising their daughters in South San Francisco and Burlingame. She found great pleasure in keeping a beautiful home and garden. She was a hard worker starting with her first job as a butcher and then her technical abilities and attention to detail made her a skillfull assembly worker where she met many lifelong friends like May, Frances and Rita. Jane was heartbroken when Jim died in 1999 and always kept his spirit alive especially with her grandchildren who were her greatest joys and who she loved to spoil.
Jane is survived by her daughters Jane Ann Brennan (Pearse), and Katrina Belton, grandchildren Ryan McGonnell and Sarah Brennan; sister Catherine McWilliam (Ian); nieces Sharon Hanks (Adrian), Angela Taylor; nephews Stephan Taylor, Kevin and Robert McWilliam, grandnieces and grandnephews as well as countless wonderful friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Country House Memory Loss Residence for taking such good care of Jane and for their gentle and kind support over the past several weeks.
Beloved wife, mom, nana, sister and friend who will forever be in our hearts.
