James S. Kong's Obituary
James S. Kong, 85, passed away peacefully at home on August 3, 2017 with his family by his side. A memorial service celebrating his life will take place on August 17, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo, California. James was born in Shanghai, China the son of Hin Do Kong and Yuk Mei (Lok) Kong. He graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in Electrical Engineering with top honors. He married Man Yee Kam on January 15, 1961. The family, along with many friends, has lost a wonderful human being. He loved to keep up on current affairs, read, watch tv, walking and playing with the Ipad. James also loved solving mechanical problems around the house and would often come up with ingenious solutions to fix things. James began his career as a technician at the Shanghai Automation Control Research Centershortly after graduation. He immigrated to Hong Kong in June, 1962 where he worked in the family trading company until his retirement in the early 90’s. After retirement, he moved to San Francisco to take care of his aging parents. James enjoyed learning and continued to improve himself by going to ESL and Computer classes everyday. He also enjoyed traveling with his family. Some of the places he had enjoyed visiting include Barcelona, Venice, Switzerland, Yellowstone Park, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Stamford, and Minneapolis. His gentle and patient ways will always be missed. James is survived by Man Yee, his wife of 56 years, his daughters Celia, Bonnie, Alice and Denise, his sister Agnes and his grandchildren Robert James, Caroline Mandy, Victor and Logan.
