James Michael Allen's Obituary
James Michael Allen was known to all as Michael and to many as “Bear”. Michael died January 26, 2015 at home in South San Francisco, California after a long struggle with Progressive Supranucler Palsy.Michael was born in Baltimore, Maryland February 18, 1952. He grew up in Severna Park, Maryland. He held many odd jobs during his lifetime, including one with a traveling carnival.Michael headed west attending the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. Upon arriving in the San Francisco Bay Area he studied Ornamental Horticulture at City College in San Francisco were he became a tree surgeon utilizing his skills in both California and Nebraska.After retiring from Michael’s Tree and Garden he enjoyed RV traveling and camping with Lea Anne and his dogs. Michael was a member of the Four Winds Trailer Club, a voracious reader as well as amateur photographer. Michael was passionate about Human and Animal Rights, supporting the Sierra Club, WWW, St Michael’s Indian School, ACLU, SPCA and Save the Bay to name a few.Michael is survived by Lea Anne Plunkett, his Life Partner of 33 years, her daughters Karan Plunkett (devoted caregiver) of Daly City, California and Sandra Plunkett of Sonora, California. He is also survived by his mother Wanda Allen and sister Terri Jackson Allen of Severna Park, Maryland and niece Alicia Jackson of Baltimore, Maryland.Donations can be made to Stanford University.
