Indu Garga's Obituary
Indu Garga was born on October 12, 1947 in New Delhi, the first and most cherished daughter of Chandra Prakash and Sudharshan Gupta. The eldest of seven siblings, Indu was always known for her kindness and love. But, her sisters will also say she was always known as 'the pretty one.' Indu was also known for giggling at all hours with her mother, sisters and brothers about childhood fun. Family is the ultimate core of Indu. Her elders, parents, brothers, sisters, husband, daughters, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, extended family and close family friends meant the world to her.Indu first spied her soul mate, Shree Garga, at a family wedding. She always told her daughters she picked him because he was so handsome, and not just because, as Shree would joke later, he was moving to America. Indu and Shree were truly devoted to each other, and their relationship serves as the ultimate inspiration to their daughters and all of their friends.Indu was blessed with two beautiful girls: Neyha and Nina, two amazing sons-in- law: Sudhir and Anish, and four even more amazing grandchildren: Krish, Isha, Kavi and Laila. Indu was the most perfect mother, and inspired her daughters to be great mothers too.In addition to her family devotion, Indu completed an MBA from San Jose State University, and after early retirement from private sector work became a tireless activist and volunteer for numerous nonprofit agencies. Indu always had a natural affinity with elders. She regularly visited homebound seniors, served on senior committees at the India Community Center, and forged lasting friendships wherever she went. Indu was ultimately devoted to the National MS Society, serving as a peer counselor, support group leader and trainer, raising thousands of dollars towards research and support services, earning public praise, recognition and awards each step of the way. She was especially proud of her role as the fearless leader of Indu’s Troop, her MS Walk team, which continues to raise awareness and money for multiple sclerosis research every year. Everyone who crossed Indu’s path was touched by her strength, energy, and love.Indu’s family would like you to join them for a havan at their home on Sunday, February 17th at 11AM. It will be followed by a light lunch. To honor Indu’s memory, a memorial fund in her name has been established to support the National MS Society.
