Huizhen Shu's Obituary
Huizhen Shu, aged 86, of Foster City, passed away peacefully at Stanford Hospital on April 27th, 2023.
Huizhen was born on September 8th, 1936, in Zhongxiang, China to Zuzheng Shu (father) and Xiuying Min (mother). He attended Wuhan University and graduated with a B.S. in physics. He loved physics and dedicated his career in scientific research. He made significant contributions to magnetic materials development in China and was widely respected in his field.
On September 24th, 1967, Huizhen married to Yonglian Kang in Taiyuan, China. He became a devoted husband and soon a loving father. He was always there to offer his guidance, support, and love to his family, no matter what challenges they faced. He was gentle and kind to others. He regularly sent money back to support his parents and younger siblings. He took care of his paralyzed mother-in-law for many years like his own. He never turned away anyone who asked for food or money and donated the highest amount in his company to help people suffering from natural disasters. He enjoyed travel, good food, and learning throughout his life. With a contagious smile, he befriended everyone around him with his happy and grateful demeanor.
Huizhen Shu is survived by his wife Yonglian Kang, his son Qiang Shu, and his daughter Tao Shu. He has a grandson Perry Shu and a granddaughter Rachel Chen.
Huizhen will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues. His legacy as a dedicated researcher and a loving family man will continue to inspire us all. We take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace and reunited with those who have gone before him.
A private service will be held on May 5th, 2023, at Skylawn Funeral Home.
