Dr. Frederick Hong's Obituary
Dr. Frederick Hong, DDS, Ph.D., October 18, 2014 in San Francisco with his loving family by his side predeceased by his wife Annie Toy, survived by his two daughters, Lauren (Wesley) Woo and Robyn (Brian) Skuse, grandchildren Elliot, Alice, Brandon and Riley, sisters-in-laws Amy Hong and Barbara Hong; as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends; predeceased by 4 siblings, Ernest, Ellen, Robert and Roland.Born on August, 19, 1921 in San Francisco, son of Mee and Grace Hong; he received his DDS Degree from the school of Dentistry, UCSF. During WWII, he served as a Captain in the Dental Corp. After his honorable discharge, he practice dentistry in San Francisco for 40+ years; ever mindful of his parents’ wishes, he continued his studies in Buddhism. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Pacific.He was the President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Buddha’s Universal Church, noted as the narrator of the Annual play, he was the translator of the text-series the Pristine Orthodox Dharma and during his youthful years, he was proud to be active in the Boy Scouts Troop 3.Friend and relatives are cordially invited to attend funeral services at 1:00pm, Monday, October 27, 2014 at the Buddha’s Universal Church, 720 Washington Street, San Francisco, California.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his loving memory to the Youth Education Fund of the Buddha’s Universal Church or a charity of your choice.
