Henry Chen's Obituary
Dr. Henry Chen, aged 85, of Avon Lake, OH passed away peacefully in Henderson, NV on January 2, 2025.
He was born on June 15, 1939 in Tokyo, Japan, to Mu-Shing and Yen Chen. Henry spent his childhood in a small fishing village outside of Kaoshiung, Taiwan. He was an outstanding athlete and scholar, eventually graduating from Kaoshiung Medical School in 1965. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1967 to continue his medical education. There he met and married his wife, Esther.
Dr. Chen and his family resided in Titusville, Pennsylvania for 30 years where he practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology. He then worked at Elyria Memorial Hospital in Elyria, OH for many years before retiring in the mid-1990’s. Dr. Chen had many hobbies including painting, photography, rowing, roller-skating, sports and travel. He also was an avid collector of art and coins.
Dr. Chen is survived by his wife, Esther; and by his three children, Elizabeth (Garrett), Nelson (Liona), Victoria (Brett) and 6 grandchildren; 3 brothers and 1 sister in Taiwan and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A burial service and reception will be held on January 31, 2025 at 11:00 am at Skylawn Memorial Park in Half Moon Bay, California.
