Hem Loui's Obituary
Hem Loui died suddenly of natural causes on February 15, 2010 at age of 88 years old. Born October 30, 1921, Slen War Village, Hoison, China. He pursued a journalism career as a young man and immigrated to New York City in 1938. After serving in the U.S. Army Medical Corp during WW II, Hem Loui returned to China in 1948 to bring his wife back to the United States. Hem Loui became a very successful businessman and was very well-known and respected in the New York City Chinatown community. He was a visionary and was influential in forging fair and equitable labor relationships between the Chinese workers and employers in the 1970’s and the 1980’s.He retired in 1985 and spent time with family and friends. He enjoyed reading, traveling and going to the horse races. In 2008-2009, he built a village gazebo in China where he was born and generously supported building of the new Village Cultural Center. We will always remember our father as a great man of character. He will be sorely missed by all.Survived by his wife Ngan Sau Loui of over 72 years.Children: Tom ( Sharon), Ming (Ramy), and JeanGrandchildren: Jonathan, Timothy, Michael (Chau), Lauren.Funeral services will be held at the Lifemark Center, Saturday, March 6, 2010, 11:00AM.In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Hem Loui can be made to: National Institute of Arthritis & Musculoskeletal & Skin DiseasesFinancial Management Br.Building 31, Room 4C219000 Rockville PikeBethesda, MD 20892-2350
