Helen Norma Freeman's Obituary
Passed away peacefully in Santa Rosa on Sunday, January 27th at the age of 90. Born in Chester, GA, to Ivey and Annabell McLeod, she was a graduate of the Grady Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Atlanta, GA and proudly served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps as a 1st Lieutenant stationed in the South Pacific during WWII before moving to the San Francisco Bay Area and finally residing in Santa Rosa, CA. She was the devoted wife of Wallace Freeman and mother of Sharon Tracey, both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by and will be missed dearly by her daughter Jean Nielsen (Jim). She will be fondly remembered as our 'Mom-Mom' by granddaughters Cindy Asato (Earl), Julie Morrissey, Chrissy Leggero (Tim), and Jessica Niehage (Chris) as well as great-granddaughters Callie, Breanna, Isabella, Giada, Ava, Sophia and Lyla. Funeral services will be held for family and friends at Skylawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home in San Mateo, CA on Monday, February 4th at Noon. Memorial donations may be made to a Veterans organization of your choice.
