Dear Monica and Family,
We are so sorry about Hector. Frank and I just found out. Just for the heck of it and also because our nephew is a recent inductee into the SFPD, we were trying to find him. I found the article.
Frank and I I loved Hector, we met him when he lived up our street in SF and worked down our street at Arrow Pharmacy working with Mike, the owner and pharmacist. One of the greatest kids ever and it sounds like he carried that with him into manhood. We lost touch! I regret this very much!

Me and Hector used to hang when I transferred from Galileo to Wilson back in the happy cheesy 80’s days! I remember how we first became friends. I had to take night school classes and as I was leaving he asked me where I was headed. I told him Bernal Heights and he said cool! I’m going there too! He followed me to the car and we became friends from there. It also turned out we had swimming class and geography class (Mr.Heafy) together! In our classes together he had a way of charming the teachers and they liked him!! I was the opposite, the teachers hated me but yet me and Hector got along! Weird huh!! So from that point on we would cruise to the store, the visitation swimming pool then back to Wilson, John Adams etc. I think I had art class with his wife at Wilson but not sure. Her name was Monica. Anyways he was a nice guy, easy to get along with and never has anything bad to say except there was a time we would make fun of the Wilson school cop behind his back (not much) and I find it funny later down the years he becomes one!! That just goes to show, you never know what exactly is in the future!! Our friendship was brief because he graduated and I still needed to catch up. I never was able to give him that mixed tape he was asking for (I was a dj at the time) but I was young and had problems committing to things. Rest in peace old friend.
