Hao Van Duong's Obituary
Hao Van Duong, aged 77, of Hanoi, Vietnam, died in San Francisco, CA on December 1, 2019.Hao was born on July 1942 in Hai Phong, Vietnam. She was married to her husband, Duc De Duong, for 59 years with whom she had established a famous Vietnamese noodle restaurant in Hanoi, Vietnam. Soon after the Vietnam War ended, Hao and her husband left Vietnam to provide a better future for their children. They initially fled to China and then Hong Kong before finally settling and became citizens of the United States. They arrived to Rhode Island in 1981. Then in that same year, she and her family made the trek to California where they made San Francisco their permanent home. Hao was a loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother. She always had a passion for cooking, family care, and worked as a cook and child caregiver. She remained resilient after her stroke in 1993 and overcame many more obstacles until her death in 2019.Hao Van Duong is survived by her husband, Duc De Duong, eight children, (Ben, Sophia, Simon, Melanie, Jack, Jason, Linh, Angelina) and eighteen grandchildren. She also leaves behind her younger brother, Quang Minh and younger sister, Chan Tu.The Wake and Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 6th from 8AM to 10:30AM PST at Skylawn Memorial Park (Highway 92 and Skyline Blvd., San Mateo, CA 94402). Following the Service, the Memorial Lunch will be held at Koi Palace (365 Gellert Blvd., Daly City, CA 94105) at 11:30AM PST.
