Gordon Pomeroy's Obituary
Our beloved Gordon Pomeroy, of San Mateo, died peacefully at home surrounded by the comfort of his family on Sat Feb 13, 2021, at the age of 85.
He was born September 7, 1935 in Hong Kong. He was the youngest of seven children born to Henry and Lucille Pomeroy. In Hong Kong he played field hockey, competed in Jitterbug dance competitions with his sister Millie and served in the British Royal Army.
Although he loved Hong Kong, he immigrated to the US in his mid-20s. He trained as a Master Auto Mechanic and worked for Bank of America in their fleet maintenance facility in San Francisco for 35 years until his retirement.
Shortly after arriving in California, he met the love of his life, Juanita Hubler. They were married in 1960 and were together for over 60 years until his passing. In 1967 they welcomed the arrival of their daughter, Jennifer, into their family.
He loved the simple things in life, spending time outdoors, camping, fishing, and hunting. He loved working in his yard, on his cars, and tinkering in his garage. He was easygoing and always smiling and happy.
He is survived by his wife Juanita, daughter Jennifer and her husband Noah, sister Mildred, nieces and nephews, Bruce, Cathy, Christine, Cindy, Debbie, Gary, Greg, Jack, Jeff, Kathy, Lucille, Patty, Rick and Terry, and grand nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Monday Feb 22nd at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice in his name is welcome.
Loved by all who knew him
