Although we are deeply saddened at her passing, how blessed we were to have known and loved Gladys. Gladys was such a lovely and lively lady. My mom, Helen Knapp, was birthday twins with Gladys, and they had a special bond because of this. I loved going over to the Stavn’s house as a child. Gladys and Phil were such a cute couple, and they were both so kind to a little kid like me. I remember times when little Sherise would play a record (“I’m a Little Teapot”) and would act the story out and/or dance as the song played. She was such fun; She was full of happiness and energy, so much like her mom. Kent was still very young when my family moved away, but I remember the joy his birth brought to their family. The last time I saw Gladys, she flew to Minnesota for my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary party in 2011. She was still as energetic, lively, and full of fun as she had always been. She had a beautiful smile that had a bit of mischief in it when she surprised my parents by her entrance. What fun it was to have her join us, and every face brightened upon meeting the petite lady from Calif. Sherise, Kent, and your Families, Hoping the memories you share will help make the future bright when your tears have dried. May the pure joy which your mom shared with everyone she met continue to embrace all of you, both in your time of sorrow and beyond. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families. With love, Jackie Knapp-Schmidtke
