. Ginlan 'Orchid' HuangMay 26, 1962September 09, 2012Resident of San JoseLoving wife, mother, sister, and aunt passed peacefully at home on September 09, 2012. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Frank, and son Sherman. Ginlan was born in Tainan,Taiwan as the youngest daughter of the Huang family. During her childhood, she was noted as a gifted student in her village. Her parents, encouraged by the teachers, sent her to city of Tainan to attend Shen-Gong school for better education. In 1984, she went to Shi-Jen college in Taipei, majored in social work and graduated in 1987. She then joined CitiBank as a loan officer and was one of the top sales for 3 consecutive years. In 1990, she moved to US to pursue higher education. She earned a B.S. Computer Science degree from Cal State University, Fullerton in 1993, and a M.S. Computer Science degree from Cal State University, Sacramento in 1994. In 1995, she joined Intel Corporation. She was enrolled in a special program called Graduate Rotation Program (GRP), the program was intended to cultivate selected new college graduates as the future elite work force of the company. Ginlan performed really well during her 3 years tenure in Intel ' always receiving outstanding performance ranking, including the promotion to senior software engineer right after her 1st year working for intel. In 1998, she joined Aspect Communications as an Information Technology Architect. In 2000, she pursued the dream that many engineers in Silicon Valley shared — joined a start-up company. In the same year, she found that he was pregnant with Sherman. And without any hesitation, she quit her job so she could start to transform into a full-time mom. She became a loving, caring mom since 2001.Ginlan's passions including skiing, walking on the beach, swimming, and fashion design. She enjoyed friends' company and was always with a lovely smile even during her most difficult time battling cancer.Friends and family are invited to a celebration of her life at Skylawn Funeral Home on Saturday September 22 at 10:00 am.
