Gilbert Joseph Negrette Jr's Obituary
A Quiet Melody Lives On
May 31st, 1954 – October 27th, 2025
“And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.” — The Beatles
He slipped from this world in Hayward, California, after living with ALS, leaving a gentle hush that still carries his song. At 71, Gilbert Joseph Negrette Jr., known to many as Gil, closed a life shaped by kindness, humor, curiosity, and deep devotion to loved ones.
Born in South Gate, California, he was the son of Captain Gilbert Joseph Negrette Sr. and Angela Mary Pacheco. Their early care set the rhythm for a boy who listened closely to every story and every note.
Gil studied at Mariposa High School, graduated from San Juan High School, and later attended Hayward State University. Work soon called, and he answered with steady resolve at Amfac, with the company changing names over the years to ultimately retire in 2019 under Ferguson after serving 37 years.
He married Maureen Lynn Blossom, and together they raised three daughters—April, Dominique, and Desiree—each one held in the steady warmth of his guidance. Grandsons Clarence and Julian followed, adding new verses to the family song.
Music was his constant companion, especially every chord by The Beatles. A cherished memory was hearing Paul McCartney live at AT&T Park in July 2010, a night he recalled often. Genealogy, finance, and investing also drew his keen mind; he found quiet joy in tracing lines or balancing ledgers.
Friends and family remember how he shared stories, offered a helping hand, and sparked laughter at the right moment. These simple acts built a legacy of love, strength, and song that echoes in those he touched.
Gil is survived by his wife Maureen, daughters April, Dominique, and Desiree, grandsons Clarence and Julian, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends. Each carries a piece of his melody.
Services will be held on November 13th 12 PM with a quiet viewing at 11 AM at Skylawn Memorial Park, 888 Lifemark Road, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019. Until then, may quiet mornings remind us of the music he left behind.
