Geraldine Stanton McMullenResident of San CarlosGeri McMullen passed away at Sequoia Hospital on Mon., March 19th, after a yearlong battle with lungcancer. She was 88. Geri was born in Greenfield, MA on March 4, 1924, daughter of the late George and Ruth (Nelson) StantonGeri graduated from North Adams State Teachers' College in 1945 and began her career in education.She moved to CA in the early 1950s, teaching in Hayward for several years before her marriage toClayton B. McMullen in 1956. After taking time off to raise her family, Geri returned to the classroom and taught at Brittan Acres School until her retirement from teaching in 1985. She then became a valued employee at Mervyns department store for many years.Geri enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, solving crossword puzzles and readingmysteries. She was a resident of San Carlos for 50 years and an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. Geri was preceded in death by her former husband, Clayton, and sister and brother-in-law Christinaand George Fontaine of Greenfield, MA. She is survived by her children, Kathleen McMullen of Palo Alto, Susan Darchuk (Jim) of Saratoga and William (Traci) McMullen of Sacramento as well as her beloved grandchildren, Scott, Kelly and Kevin Darchuk and Jackson and Eric McMullen. 'Aunt Geri' willalso be dearly missed by her nephew, Robert Fontaine and his wife Kathleen of Greenfield, MA and her other nieces and nephews.A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, March 25 at 11:30am at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1106 Alameda de las Pulgas, San Carlos, CA. A reception will be held in the church hall following the service.
