Gerald is the youngest child with two brothers and a sister. He was born with a naturally pleasant personality which is easily demonstrated by his smile. After his military commitment, he received his Master's of Science in Computer Engineering at the University of Arizona in 1986.
Gerald met Sherry Ann Hing while they were graduate students at the University of Arizona. God made their encounter unique because Gerald was in the Engineering college and Sherry was in the agriculture college which the colleges are located on the opposite sides of the campus. He married Sherry on March 19, 1988, in Tucson, Arizona. They shared 37 years of marriage.
He worked at Sun Microsystems for 21 years before he retired.
Gerald developed an interest in photography and music in high school. While an electrical engineer in college he enjoyed stereo kit building. Gerald accepted Jesus/Yeshua as his Lord in 1986. He is a member of First Baptist Church of Newark where he taught bible studies, served as a deacon and operated the sound equipment. He organized men and youth workgroups from the church to help with yard care for the elderly. He attended Tsemach Adonai to learn the Jewish perspective of the Bible. Whether at family gatherings or church events Gerald was the photography/audio/computer guru or the Bible answer man. His community involvement with the Newark Graffiti Abatement program helped to reduce graffiti from several city areas.
Gerald is survived by his wife Sherry, and brothers Vincent (Chi-Pin) and Daniel (Chi-An) and sister, Chi-Shin. He was preceded in death by his parents. His pleasant personality with his earnest and generous character to share joy to others was exhibited up to his final day.
