George Collins January 31, 1926 – May 21, 2014George Collins, 88, of Hayward Calif. passed away peacefully on May 21, 2014 at Penny’s Guest Home in Concord, CA.Born January 31, 1926 in Missouri, he was the oldest of 4 children born to James and Mabel Collins.George lived in Missouri until 1947 when he moved to California with his wife, Anna Collins.George and Anna celebrated 63 years of marriage before Anna’s passing in 2012.George is survived by daughter Debra Collins of Castro Valley CA., son William Collins and daughter-in-law Hajnalka Collins of Castro Valley, CA., grandson James Collins and wife Robyn of Sacramento, CA., granddaughter Julia (Collins) Malvick and husband Erik Malvick of Davis, CA, two great-grandchildren Lucas and Iris Collins of Sacramento, CA.During WWII George served two years in the U.S. Navy. George was a member of Carpenters Union Local 719 for 65 years doing both housing and heavy constructions. He loved the great outdoors especially camping and fishing with his family and friends. In later years he enjoyed going for daily walks with his wife Anna, gardening, and was a very avid reader.George’s wishes were to be cremated and for his ashes to be scattered in a private service at Skylawn Cemetery, San Mateo, CA. on a hilltop overlooking the Pacific Ocean.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George’s name to the American Heart Association. We would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to all who enriched our dear father’s life.
