Fred B. Thiemann's Obituary
Fred B. Thiemann, of Redwood City, aged 85, passed away peacefully with family at his side. Fred was a devoted husband to Georgia, his wife of 58 years, who passed away in June 2024.
Fred’s grandfather immigrated to the U.S. from Germany in the 1890s and eventually bought a ranch in Modesto, where Fred and his sister Barbara grew up. His father, Frederick (Fritz), was a farmer, President of the Farm Bureau in Modesto, a part time teacher, and excellent banjo player. His mother, Josephine, worked part time at Crocker Bank and played piano in their group’s traveling banjo band. His parents met at UC Davis, where Josephine was working as a secretary and Fritz was attending.
Fred also attended UC Davis, where he studied Soil Science. It was there that he met Georgia, who was majoring in Mathematics. They married in 1966. After working at Gallo Winery in Modesto for a short time, Fred earned his MBA at Stanford University. He went on to work at Philco-Ford and later became Vice President of Marketing Research for Bank of America, stationed in San Francisco. Fred left the bank and began independent management consulting in the late 1980s.
Following retirement, Fred was actively involved with the Stanford Alumni Consulting Team (ACT), providing pro bono services to numerous nonprofit organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Fred and Georgia were able to enjoy extensive international travel, and always loved spending time with their children, extended family, and many good friends.
Fred is survived by his children, Fred and Lori, sister Barbara, sisters-in-law Ann and Kathleen, and many loving nieces and nephews. He is dearly missed.
