Robert Birchett
After marrying Fred’s youngest stepdaughter, Jerrylene, we left California to make a home in Tulsa. When we visited and stayed with Luana and Fred, he was always happy to see us and ready to spoil our kids. He was extremely generous and went out of his way to make us comfortable. Food! It seemed he was always cooking, making sure we had plenty. His barbecue was unmatched, and I always looked forward to talking with Fred about politics—I can’t remember a time when we disagreed. Though his demeanor was generally quiet and calm, he would speak his mind when he thought it was necessary. He was always protective of all of us—his family. Fred had qualities that I have yet to master.
He will be missed, but not forgotten. I’ll catch you later, Papa Fred. Aloha…
