Frank Raymond Patterson's Obituary
Frank Raymond Patterson, Sr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, after a brief illness. He was 88 years old.Frank was born in 1926 in San Francisco to parents William E. and Edith A. Patterson. He attended Polytechnic High School, then joined the Navy and served proudly during World War Two. He later served in the Korean War as a Petty Officer aboard the USS Valley Forge. Frank worked for several years as a machinist before earning his teaching credential, which led to a 28-year career as a vocational educator teaching machine shop at John A. O’Connell High School in San Francisco.In 1953, he married his wife Mildred and during their 62 years together, they enjoyed traveling, camping in Yosemite, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Frank was an avid stamp collector and a longtime member of the San Mateo Elks Lodge 1112. He also enjoyed keeping up with his fellow veterans and in his later years, became a enthusiastic fan of the San Francisco Giants.Above all, Frank was a devoted husband and father who was always there for his family. Frank was preceded in death by his twin brother, William. He is survived by his loving wife, Mildred; his sister, Launa Hovland; brother Jean Patterson; sons Frank, Stephen, David and Robert; and grandchildren Rachel, Sam, Ian and Elisa.Reception to follow at the Elks Club in San Mateo 229 W 20th Ave, San Mateo, CA 94403 (650) 345-4886
