Francis Aramburo Pappa's Obituary
Francis (Frank) A. Pappa, aged 92, of San Carlos died peacefully in his sleep on Jan 31, 2015. He was born May 25, 1922 in the Philippines, the third of eight children, to James V. and Biencenida Pappa. He and the entire family were held in internment camps during the WWII Japanese occupation of the Phillippines. At the liberation of the islands he was brought to the U.S and joined the Navy with his future brother-in-law Bill Epes. Frank studied engineering at Stanford University in Palo Alto where he met and married Jean Negley on May 29, 1954. Together they built a home in the hills and raised three children. Frank worked as a resident civil engineer for CalTrans District 4 his entire career. Think of him sometimes as you drive the peninsula highways for he was very proud of the work. Frank and Jean enjoyed entertaining at their home, hosting frequent gatherings, large “lechons” and small dinners. They also enjoyed travel with good friends, gardening, camping and dancing. Together they welcomed the marriages of their children and delighted in their grandchildren. Frank enjoyed his “Boys Club”, fishing, his investment club, and dabbled in tennis and golf. He lost his wife of 56 years in November of 2010 and will now join her. He is survived by son Dean Pappa, his wife Renee, daughter Lori Severais, her husband Nicholas, son Stephen Pappa, and his wife Debra. Frank was immensely proud of his six grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Ian, and Craig Severais, Cody Pappa, and Blaine and Colin Pappa. He is survived by one brother, William Pappa, many much loved in-laws, nieces, nephews and their children. A celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Sunday, March 22 at 12:00pm, Pacific Chapel, Lifemark Center- Skylawn Memorial Park.
