Florine Delores Morris' Obituary
Florine Delores Morris affectionately known as “Flo” was born on June 15, 1935 in
Vicksburg, Mississippi to the parents of Annie Mae Tolliver and Dennis McClain who
preceded her in death.
Florine was the oldest of 4 siblings. She received her early education in Fayette
Mississippi. She then moved to California where she received the rest of her education
and graduated from Galileo High School in San Francisco. She was blessed with an
extended family who loved and raised her. (Mother Ora Mae & Clarence Casey who
preceded her in death).
Florine worked 25 years at Children’s Hospital of San Francisco where she retired
in the early 1980’s. She was a hard worker, a single mother of 2 girls that she adored.
She would often let them know, “ We will stick together if we have to eat bread and drink
dish water”.
In 1971 she met and married the love of her life, LeRoy Morris, who loved her and
helped her raise and care for her girls. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage.
She loved the rides around the city and to the beach that they often took. Florine loved
life. A classy women who like beautiful things, she taught her daughters to be ladies and
respect themselves. She never spared the rod while raising them. A women of wisdom
and discernment, she knew when someone wasn’t right for her girls, Everyday Florine
got up, got dressed, put her makeup on, fixed her hair until the Lord called her home.
She loved a celebration and going out to eat.
At the age of 40, she was baptized by Pastor Calvin Jones Sr, where she united
with the Providence Baptist Church in San Francisco. In the early 1980’s she joined the
First Union Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Henry L. Davis Jr. In 2019, she
would accompany her eldest daughter to church where she then united with the True
Hope Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Dr. Arelious Walker. She was
always excited when the mothers of the church and Dr. Walker would call and have
prayer with her.
Florine loved her family. She prayed for them daily. She enjoyed talking to her
cousins on the phone. She loved talking to her girlfriends, Wilba Lewis and Lois (Lo-Lo
Harrison. She loved and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Known as
Grandma and GiGi.
On January 8, 2021 the Lord called her home. Although we weren’t ready, God was
ready for her. She will be missed so very much. Her laughter, her phones calls at certain
times of the day, her going down the list of everyone to see where they were and what
they were doing. We will never forgot the wonderful memories.
Those who will miss her most and cherish her memories are her loving husband
of 49 years LeRoy C. Morris, her daughters Sheena McClain and Angela
Townsend-Buggs of San Francisco, grand children, Trenayhe Currington, Isis Mathews,
Porcetta Currington, Carl Mathews, Jr (Jacari) Ricky Currington Jr,(Miriam), Caleb
Mathews. Great grand-children, Taylor Jackson, David & D’Veir Fuller, Caziel Manaia
Mathews & Ricky Jeremiah Currington. Sister in-law Daisy Tate (Joel) special cousins,
David Dent (Joanne), Joseph Dent, Katherine Gibbs, The Tolliver Family, The Stringers,
special friends, Lois Harrison, Wilba Lewis & Augustine Haye and a host of relatives and
friends
