Flora Chang's Obituary
Flora Moy Chang was born in China on June 6, 1949. She spent her childhood in Hong Kong, and moved to the United States as a teenager. She first settled with her family in the Chicago area, then moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1971. She rocked living in the city in the 70s, doing what she always loved — spending time with friends, watching movies, reading novels, shopping and fashion, cooking and eating out, and generally experiencing all life has to offer. She was introduced to her husband-to-be Allen by friends in the late 70s, and they were married in May 1979. They honeymooned in Taiwan, and upon their return, they lived in Flagstaff, Arizona. Flora and Allen loved to travel and experience nature together, especially going on road trips from state to state. In 1984, their daughter, Tiffany, was born. As a family, they lived in West Virginia with Flora's eldest brother, Albert, and his family, as well as in Memphis for a while. In the late 80s, Flora and her family returned to settle in the San Francisco Bay Area.Flora loved to celebrate birthdays and holidays with friends and family. She loved cooking up a feast of her guest's favorite foods or going out to restaurants, and enjoying the company of loved ones. She would make weekly trips to the library to borrow books to read, and when she found a good book, she could read all night. Flora loved date nights with her husband, which included going to the movies, or even a concert once in a while!Flora strongly believed in doing good for others and enjoying life to the fullest. She was passionate about teaching her daughter about the value of hard work and getting a good education. She would volunteer on her days off, or donate money to some of her favorite charities for children and people with disabilities. Flora and Allen enjoyed the little things in life, like spending an afternoon in the park, taking walks on rainy days, and making each other laugh with silly jokes. Flora was a strong, independent and honest woman with a terrific sense of humor. She had the cutest smile, and a warm hearty laugh. Flora passed peacefully at 4:40am on October 15, 2012 at San Francisco General Hospital. She spent her last hours surrounded by loved ones who shared their favorite memories of her. Flora will be deeply missed by her husband Allen, daughter Tiffany, and son-in-law Michael.
