Evelyn A. Folen's Obituary
Evelyn A. Folen, age 87, loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on February 24, 2015 at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, after a brief illness. Born in San Francisco on November 8, 1927, she resided in San Mateo county the past 62 years. Evelyn was the devoted wife, for 38 years, to her Late, loving husband, Joseph Wm. Folen, Jr. who passed away, much too soon, in November of 1983. (Evelyn is content now, as she and Joe will be spending their 70th wedding anniversary together this June in Heaven) She is the beloved daughter of the late Evelyn I. Robertson, the late William B. Robertson and the late Peter S. Colla.Evelyn grew up in San Francisco, she married the love of her life, Joseph,in 1945 at the young age of 17, and began their wonderful journey together as husband and wife, which included having four devoted loving children (3 boys and 1 girl).They moved to San Mateo in 1952 to a great neighborhood. Her family was everything to Evelyn, they brought her much love and joy. Evelyn devoted her life to her husband and children and in her later years, loved every moment spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an active member of The American Legion Auxiliary # 82, and a former member of the Eagles Club, and The Shoreview Seniors, always eager and ready to volunteer for cooking duties.In addition to devoting her life to her family, Evelyn enjoyed cooking, knitting and gardening and collecting dolls. She also enjoyed reading her National Enquirer magazines, watching QVC and TV shows such as Judge Judy, Tennis, Golf and the cooking channel.Evelyn is the loving Mother of Joseph Wm. Folen, III and wife, Pat of Jacksonville, AR; Susanne Kiler and husband, Kenneth of Redwood City, CA; Robert L. Folen and late wife, Alice of Fernley, NV; Thomas G. Folen, Sr. and wife, Anita of San Mateo, CA; Evelyn was a very special and unique mother to her four children and they will always remember and appreciate her compassionate, gently, loving ways.Evelyn was the thoughtful and caring Grandmother to Kimberly Ann Folen, Joseph W. Folen, IV, Brian (Elizabeth) Kiler, Jaclyn Kiler, Forrest (Arleene) Folen, Anthony (Jodi) Folen, Richard Folen, Thomas Folen, Jr. and Douglas Folen, and Great-Grandmother to Brittany N. Folen, Joseph W. Folen, V, Richard A. Goulart, Cory J. Smith, lindsey R. Smith; Jesus, Jadalina and Hendrix Folen; Patrick and Nathaniel Kiler; and Zachary, Luke and Allison FolenEvelyn will truly be missed by all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all who knew her.Viewing will be Monday evening, March 2, 2015 from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Skylawn Funeral Home and services will take place at Skylawn Funeral Home in San Mateo Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at 10:30 A.M.Skylawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park is assisting the family with arrangements.
