Emiy has always been a special freind to me. Growing up I always admired her and wanted to be just like her. She was a lady that always dressed beutifully and aways had a smile on her face. Her heart was twice the size of her and she always opened it up to anyone! It has been wondrful to have known such a lovely lady!! I will as will my family truly miss her. I remember going over to Lorie’s house (we were in High School) and her mom would be there. She ALWAYS looked so beautiful to me( looked like she just came from getting her hair done), and always greeted me with a warm and loving smile along with a hug. Most of the time wearing an apron and cooking something good on the stove. Reminded me of Mrs Cleaver on “Leave it to Beaver” LOL. I am so thankful to have visited her last year with Lorie. We miss you so much already. We have been life long friends since we were 8 years old. We started with communion at St. Peters Catholic Church, and then went through junior high school and high school and we were always together. We went on so many trips … from Mazatlan to Maui to Acapulco to Puerto Vallarta to Las Vegas to Tahoe to Reno to Palm Springs to New Orleans … and the dancing at Bimbo’s 365 to El Rancho Motel to the Italian-American Social Club to Peninsula Social Club to Sahara to Flamingo to Harrahs to Reno to the Carlos Club … cruises around the islands and the Caribbean and Mexico … and then being ushers for Frank Sinatra at the Circle Star to dancing at South Lake Tahoe to cabins at Russian River to dinners at Iron Gate and parties at New Year’s wherever every year … so many happy times and memories over the last 80 years. All of the family gatherings and eating and drinking and celebrating. We have shared so many things together and Jo and Emily have been best friends forever. The four of the girls … Kay, Emily, Audrey and Jo … had luncheons for birthdays and New Year’s and July 4th and just about any holiday … they were always together … and called themselves the ‘Kanots’ or something like that … not sure why but that’s what Jo remembers. Emily was always the most kind and charming person. She was always so happy to see us and was so wonderful with her grandchildren and their friends, including our daughter, Jackie. I’m glad I was able to meet both Al and Emily, even though it seems I missed their prime moments in life. The stories about the two, told to me by Matthew, range from his grandmother singlehandedly giving him high blood pressure as a teen by taking him out for a second lunch of pizza or the like after picking him up from school, to Al being the longest season ticket holder for the San Francisco 49er’s… not to mention their cocktail parties and travels. I’m so lucky to have met bother of them, and fortunate to be close to the family they have created with their love, wit and happiness.
