Elsie McNesby's Obituary
Elsie McNesby died peacefully in her sleep, with her son by her side on Tuesday May 1, 2018 in Marina, California. She is preceded in death by her husband Marshall McNesby and son Joseph McNesby. Elsie was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on April 15, 1926 to parents Sigyn Kloe-Koefoed and Homer Smith. Elsie and her sister Florence, were raised solely by their mother starting when Elsie was age 5. Growing up, Elsie developed an ear for music and singing. As a teen she performed as a vocalist for the Armed Forces in Texas. Elsie moved to California (which was her dream) when she was 19 years old to work as a secretary for the United States government on Mare Island. Soon after she decided on the bright lights of San Francisco as the place to work and live. Elsie met the love of her life, Marshall, while working as a singing hostess at the Club Hollywood in San Francisco. They were married for 58 happy years while making their home in San Francisco, San Carlos,and San Jose, California. Elsie and Marshall enjoyed many good times with family and friends. Truly, she was a good hearted woman in love with a good time man. Elsie is survived by her son Jeffry McNesby and many nephews and nieces.
