Ella Lee's Obituary
Ella Yuet-Wah Lee, aged 64, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2015 surrounded by her family in her home in San Jose, California, after her struggle with cancer. Ella was born November 19, 1951, in Hong Kong, China, the only daughter of Pak Chiu and Polan, and sister to James, Jimm, and Victor.In 1975, Ella moved to the United States to continue her education. About a year later, Ella met her husband, Hoi Lam (Peter), at a party. They were married in an intimate ceremony on March 19, 1978 in San Francisco, California. Together, they raised two sons, David and Albert.In addition to raising their two sons, Ella worked as an accountant for 30 years in the tech industry and had worked for Atari and Sun Microsystems. One of her proudest achievements was passing the CPA exam. She eventually left to care for her ailing mother for several years.Ella found pleasure in classical Chinese music. Her creative hobbies included creating flower arrangements and playing the guzheng (古箏) and the pipa (琵琶). She loved beautiful natural landscapes and cherished classic musicals from the 50s and 60s, especially The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, The King and I, and Fiddler on the Roof.Ella was also an excellent cook. Her family always looked forward to her turnip cake (萝卜糕), zong zi (粽子), and tong yuan (汤圆). She also enjoyed watching television with her family, especially dramas, Dancing with the Stars, and Golden State Warriors games.Ella was Catholic and a member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Cupertino.Ella is survived by her husband, Hoi Lam Lee, and her two sons, David and Albert. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
