Elizabeth Davis' Obituary
Elizabeth Davis (Liz) of San Francisco, 50, died in her sleep at her home on Saturday June 2, 2012 from a complication of diabetes treatment (hypoglycemia). She was born in Stamford Connecticut on June 7, 1961 and graduated from Rippowam High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Tufts University and pursued further studies in English at Stanford University where she earned a Master's degree. Her career as a technical writer included Peoplesoft (where she was promoted to manager of publications) and high-tech startups in the Silicon Valley and San Francisco. Her great passions were a love of music which ranged from Wagner and John Adams to the Grateful Dead to the classic jazz of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. She also loved to cook and was a long time member and contributor to Chowhound. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Laurence Levin, their daughters Rachel, 15 and Zoe, 13, her mother, Constance Anne Russell and father, Flavius Eugene Davis IV, sister Mary Priscilla Davis, brother Flavius Eugene Davis V, and sister Catherine Lucy Davis (Katie), mother-in-law Beverly Levin, sister-in-law Lee Levin, aunt Martha Hammond, uncle David Russell, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at Skylawn Funeral Home on Saturday June 9th at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to insulin-pumpers.org, 558 Valley Way, Milpitas, CA 95035. Liz was an administrator of this nonprofit peer support resource for people using insulin pumps to control diabetes.
