Eli Quon Ngok Leong's Obituary
Eli Quon Ngok Leong, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, passed away peacefully at age 88 on May 16, 2025 at UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco.
Born on October 12, 1936, in Canton, China, Eli was the youngest son of Leong Ming Fook and Chan Kum Heung. From a young age, he exhibited a compassionate heart, strong calm, and sharp wit. Eli served in the United States Army after the Korean War from 1956 to 1958 and earned an Associate's degree in Business Administration from City College of San Francisco in 1961.
In 1968, Eli married his beloved wife Maggie in Hong Kong and then went on to start a family back in San Francisco. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they raised three children, Andrew, Cindy, and Sandy, instilling in them values of hard work, integrity, and kindness. He adored his eight grandchildren, showering them with love, sweets, and countless words of wisdom.
Eli dedicated over 34 years to commercial aviation, working as a Storekeeper Manager for United Airlines at San Francisco International Airport before retiring. With more time on his hands, he was able to enjoy more of his favorite pastimes: NFL football as a 49er faithful, Giants baseball, and Warriors basketball. He was also able to spend more time relaxing and travelling with family.
Eli will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him: his son, Andrew Leong (wife Lai-King) and his grandchildren, Lauryn, Andrew Junior, Brian, and Madelyn; his daughter, Cindy Ng (husband Wilson) and his grandchildren, Joshua and Mikayla; his daughter, Sandy Ma (husband Tim) and his grandchildren, Nathan and Landon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie Leong.
A memorial service to celebrate Eli's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Skylawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Half Moon Bay. Flowers can be sent to Skylawn Funeral Home, or donations can be made to Cindy Ng, 1773 14th Ave., San Francisco, CA 94122.
