Eleanor Bezanker's Obituary
Eleanor H. Bezanker 4/23/1914 – 8/27/2016 Eleanor was one of four girls born in Isabel South Dakota to Preben and Christine Hvistendahl. Her father was a lawyer and her mother was a homemaker. Eleanor spent most of her formative years, along with her sisters, living in Mobridge South Dakota. She attended college at the University of Michigan and at the University of Minnesota. She studied nutrition and became a registered dietician. She worked in a number of hospital dietary departments after she finished college. At the end of her career she taught kindergarten for a few years until she retired. She was married to Abraham Bezanker who preceded her in death. He was a tenured professor in the English Department at San Jose State College where he taught for many years until his retirement. Eleanor had one son, Ronald Korstad, from a previous marriage, who also preceded her in death. Eleanor’s three sisters all preceded her in death. She is survived by her niece, Carole Weckbaugh, her daughter-in-law Darlene Korstad and a great niece and nephew as well as several great, great, nieces and nephews. She was blessed to have lived a very long and fruitful life and will be missed.
