Edwin Rolando Aguilar-Morales' Obituary
Edwin Rolando Aguilar-Morales, age 60, passed away on June 5, 2025, at a nursing home in Sunnyvale, California, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on June 2, 1965, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, to Ofelia Morales-Leiva and José Leonel Aguilar Arriola. As a young man, Edwin worked for a company specializing in signage. From an early age, he was an avid reader, often finishing books in a single sitting — a passion that eventually led him to pursue a certification in Literature Studies.
At the age of 20, Edwin made the bold decision to move to the United States in search of new opportunities. While attending Adult English classes at Palo Alto High School, he met a close friend, Elio, who would later introduce him to his sister, Elizabeth. In 1992, Edwin and Elizabeth welcomed their only daughter, Elizabeth, into the world — the joy of their lives. On March 31, 2001, they celebrated their union in a wedding ceremony that honored the life and love they had built together.
Edwin was a man of many talents. He had a deep appreciation for literature and could recite poetry and speak eloquently about the great writers of the past. He was also well known for his love of cars and his skill as a mechanic — always eager to take on a new project.“I have a mental image of my father hovering over the open hood of a vehicle, standing tall, smoking a cigarette while listening to the motor running. The excitement of a new project! His focus was unmatched.”
Edwin is survived by his former wife, Elizabeth J.; his daughter, Elizabeth A.; his brother, Leonel; his sisters, Silvia and Gladis; and many beloved nieces and nephews: Cindy, Heidi, Kathy, Evelyn, Miriam, Carolina, Walter, and Carlos.
“Goodbyes are not forever; goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean, I’ll miss you — until
we meet again.”
