Edward R. Ick's Obituary
Edward (Ed) R. Ick, age 81, of Daly City, passed away on December 9, 2020, at the Mills-Peninsula Medical Center Hospital in Burlingame. Ed was born on November 23, 1939 in Manila, Philippines. He was one of nine children born to Hans Wilhelm and Vicenta Romero Ick. Ed attended Colegio de San Juan de Letran and earned his bachelor’s degree from De La Salle University.
In the Philippines, Ed assisted in managing the Ick family businesses. He and wife, Maria Elena (Nena), emigrated to America in the 1970s, eventually settling in Daly City. He retired as an accountant from Barclays Global Investors.
Ed was a tireless and selfless volunteer at both St. Thomas Moore and St. Gregory churches. He found enjoyment in the simple pleasures of life and spending time with his family, including watching sporting events of his children and grandchildren.
Ed was known for his kind and compassionate spirit.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Maria Elena (Nena); sons Stewart Robert (Bobby), Wilhelm (Billy) & wife Therese, and Edward Jr.; daughter Theresa & husband James; grandchildren Zachary (Zack), Isabella (Ally), and Nicolette (Nikki); sisters Catherine and Mary; brother William; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. He is also survived by three loving furry grandchildren Liho, Coco, and Blaze.
Due to COVID restrictions, a private family service will be held on Wednesday, December 16th at Skylawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park in San Mateo.
