EDWARD ERICK ADAMSFebruary 22, 1923 ' February 23, 2013A San Mateo resident for 60 years, Ed passed away after a long illness at age 90. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Zelta; children, Debra (Patrick), Robert (Lyndesay); grandchildren, Amy (Preston), Jennifer (Timothy), Grant and Emma; and many other relatives and friends. Edward was born in Corvallis, Oregon, attending high school there and began college at Oregon State University when WW 2 and the Navy intervened. He was sent to UC Colorado at Boulder and Columbia Univ. in NY where he earned his bachelors degree in Engineering and the rank of Ensign. After the war he earned his Masters in Mechanical Engineering at OSU. He then worked for Standard Oil of California (Chevron) for over 35 years. Ed's greatest enjoyment was singing in 3 groups: Chancel Choir of the Congregational Church of San Mateo, the Bohemian Club Chorus and Masterworks Chorale. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Corvallis, Oregon. Camping, hiking and rock climbing at Yosemite and family gatherings at Pismo Beach became yearly vacations when he would share his endless puns and jokes and good humor. Ed and Zelta loved traveling, attending musical concerts and making music together. A private interment was held at Skylawn Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at the Congregational Church, 225 Tilton Avenue, San Mateo on Sunday, June 9, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the church organ fund , Pathways Hospice Foundation or a charity of your choice.
