Duk Sil Pak's Obituary
Duk Sil Pak was born on November 14, 1925 in Korea. A strong and determined woman, Duk raised her children, Yong Son, Yong Sun, and Yong Nam, by herself after losing her husband in the war. She came to the United States in 1980 and settled in San Francisco, where she lived a full and beautiful life. Duk passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on May 1, 2013.Duk touched the lives of many people with her sweet spirit and strong faith in God. She was a faithful member of Korean First Presbyterian Church and an active member of her church community. Duk was intelligent and well educated, having attended college in Korea. Fluent in Korean, Japanese, and English, Duk enjoyed using her language skills to translate for the elderly.Duk was extremely nurturing and her family was the center of her life. She will be missed dearly and deeply, but it comforts those who loved her to know that she has attained her eternal reward and is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.Duk will forever be loved and remembered by her children, Yong Nam Kim and Yong Sun Lewis; her grandchildren, Samantha Cotton and her husband Crandall Cotton of Bowie, Maryland, Hyun Joong Kim and his wife Chong A Kim of San Francisco, California, and Earnest Payton, Jr. and his wife Desiree Payton of Brandywine, Maryland; her great-grandchildren, Cierra Cotton, Korey Cotton, Kendrick Cotton, Sun Ju Kim, Sun Ji Kim, and Sun Min Kim; along with countless family and friends who were blessed to have known her.Skylawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park, San Mateo Friday, May 10, 2013
